Cadw Dig, day two 28th November 2007
Day two started with the team ready and eager to tackle the dig, tools and equipment gathered and heading towards the trench as I arrived, how keen is that?
The team split into 2 groups with myself, Dave F and Neil working on the upper and inner section of the rampart and Dave D and Sara cleaning the large blocked stones on the outer east face of the rampart. Today it was important just to clean back and reveal the outer profile of the rampart and facing stones by excavating accumulative years of overburden thus revaling a truer profile of the upper rampart. Dirty work but someone had to do it.
All went well until the weather closed in, the clouds darkend and the heavens open up, initially the team was undaunted, however eventually we had to yield to the rain in the late afternoon. We retreated to the site office knowing we had made a very good start. Wet but not beaten.
