Days 14 and 15, the 15th and 17th of December
Saturday was another cold but dry day, great for digging not so good for recording and surveying. The team managed to do a bit of all three. Also, we decided to investigate further the collapse of large boulder stones on the inner side of the rampart in order to discern any evidence for structural phasing.
On Monday we continued cleaning back the whole trench for recording in plan and section. We also welcomed a visit from members of CPAT Chris Martin and Jeff Spencer, who examined our work on the rampart offering very useful advice and guidance. They also enjoyed the full Caer Alyn site tour by Phil Cox and myself. After that some hot drinks were welcomed by everyone on site including our dedicated team of Sara, Dave D, John and Neil.
Thanks to everyone who attended that day, 'you all did very well'. A special thank you to Chris Martin and Jeff Spencer for enduring the cold and hopefully enjoying our site.
