Day Trip to Poulton

BONES AND POTS

The CAYA group moved off site today to visit one of the best archaeological sites in the UK. Mike Emery, Project Director of the Poulton Project hosted a morning of tours that allowed our group to not only discover the story of the site, but also to handle artefacts dating back many thousands of years.

After a walking tour of the site the group then had the opportunity to see how the artfacts were processed and recorded. However, the highlight of the day was the human and animal bones that have been recovered from the site. The CAYA group will no doubt remember their first experience of Bones and Pots for a long time to come.

Many thanks to Mike Emery, Ray Carpenter and Steve Crane, and all the volunteers of the Poulton Project for making the day a great success.
