CAER ALYN IN BELGIUM

Caer Alyn Heritage Project visit Belgium and local communities in Ghent, Belgium, along with our fellow partners from Austria, Lithuania, Malta and Spain.

Caer Alyn Heritage Project hosted the partners during their visit in February when they visited the local communities of Llai , Cefn Mawr and Holt to learn more about the heritage work they are doing and tour the unique heritage landscape of the region. Phil Cox, project coordinator of the Caer Alyn Project says ‘ Our visits to our partners from across Europe, and our partners visit to Wrexham, provided a great opportunity for the ‘ I Am Your Guide’ project volunteers to visit the local communities and to understand some of the wider issues regarding volunteering and community engagement with their heritage. During the visit to Ghent our volunteers were also able to meet and talk to other local volunteers about their communities; gaining a better understanding of cultures and heritage across Europe. The work of the partnership over this period has created a network of community heritage partners that will be developed over future years; partnerships that will continue to develop new ways in which to work with local communities across Europe’.
