HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL FROM THE CAER ALYN PROJECT

A BUSY YEAR AHEAD FOR THE TEAM

During 2011 Caer Alyn has some exciting projects that will involve local communities and people of all ages in the heritage and archaeology of the area. Starting in February when we host an international event for our fellow European partners, from Belgium, Austria, Lithuania, Malta and Spain in the Grundtvig ' I Am Your Guide - History in Your Own Backyard' project.

Caer Alyn is also working jointly with Northern Marches Cymru to host a Histories Festival to be held at Glyndwr University over the 4th and 5th February. Later in the month Caer Alyn will be taking part in the local community exhibition at the refurbished Wrexham Museum. This will feature exhibits from local heritage and history groups, and the joint Caer Alyn - Holt LIDAR project display. The start of year also sees the ongoing development of our HLF Young Roots project and further expansion of our Iron Age settlement.

Over the winter volunteers have been working hard behind the scenes undertaking post excavation analysis of last year's Summer School Dig. A report on this evaluation excavation will be available later in 2011. This will be published on the website.

Caer Alyn is also fully involved in the work of the Wrexham Heritage Forum and works closely with Wrexham County Council to protect and preserve the unique heritage of the region. This work will continue in 2011.

In August we will be holding our annual summer dig programme on site to give opportunities to all to experience and develop skills in field archaeology.

During September Caer Alyn' will be holding its eighth Caer Alyn at Home Open Day for the local communities of Wrexham and beyond.

There are also new projects and partners that we are working on and with, and as always we will keep you informed of these developments over the coming months.

As you can see we have a lot going on this year. If you would like to be a part of it why not volunteer some of you time to help us tell the story of the area.

Thanks for all your support.

I hope you see you at Caer Alyn during the year.

Regards
