CAAHP is running a week of experimental archaeology in summer 2013. BSc/MSc Archaeology students are invited to spend a week at Caer Alyn doing experimental archaeology. Students will get the chance to build a kiln and fire it. Three kilns to choose from Roman Updraft, Iron Age Clamp Kiln and Egyptian Faience kiln (All materials provided and pots and faience to fire) Lab visit Daresbury Students will spend one day at The STFC Daresbury Laboratory to give them an introduction to the various analytical techniques available to them as future archaeological scientists.

On the 20th of September 2010, Lydia (one of the students that attended this year’s Caer Alyn summer school) attended a scientific equipment familiarisation day At Daresbury Labs I-Tac department. The training was carried out by Alan Brown.

First Geophysics report from 2010 Summer school

During the summer school 4 grids were surveyed by our visiting students. The first two grids have now been processed and the report has been completed (see attached file below) The report has been compiled by one of our visiting students Lydia Jones and I must comment, that for a first attempt at a geophysics report it is excellent.

Day 16, the 18th of December 2007

Offically the last day of the dig. The team assembled in the morning in the site office and had a good cup of tea and had a good laugh before we started work. The usual team were there: Neil Adams, attended every day, enthusiastic, hard working, great photographer and all round bril bloke.
