Dear CAYA Members, Karen, Kirsty, Phil and I wish you a very good summer holiday! Just to let you know that the next session will be on September 25th 2010. We are hoping that the Romans will come and see us again as well as continuing with looking at the heritage and conservation of the Caer Alyn site during the autumn.

Last week, volunteers from Caer Alyn played the part of an iron-age family for an educational dvd for a schools information pack on the iron-age. Whilst waiting for the film crew to arrive, Phil Cox (our own "director" tcarried out his own photo shoot!

Our February CAYA meeting had three guest speakers discussing three seperate subjects with the youngsters.

Hello CAYA members! Well Christmas is nearly upon us and we have been busy since September. We have had a visit to Poulton to see the very exciting multi-period site which is being excavated by Mike Emery and his experienced team of archaeologists.

The Caer Alyn Project has been successful in their Grundtvig application to form a partnership with five other European countries to develop a heritage project ' Let Me Be Your Guide - History in your own backyard'. The partner countries in this project are; Spain, Belgium, Malta, Austria and Lithuania.

The Caer Alyn project started with just one test pit, as part of the Time Team Big Dig in 2002. Since then the Caer Alyn community heritage project has gone from strength to strength, as you will see when reading the following pages of the story so far.

On the 8th October 2009, students and staff of Markland Hill School, Bolton will visit Caer Alyn to experience at first hand how an archaeological site works. They will have the opportunity during the day to use geophysical equipment and try their hand at excavation.

CAYA 2009/ 2010 Welcome back to our CAYA members. We hope you have had a fabulous summer and are ready for another year at Caer Alyn. We have some new exciting ideas for this year which will be learning about the heritage and conservation of Caer Alyn’s unique site.
