Dates for CAYA 2010/2011

Dear CAYA Members, Karen, Kirsty, Phil and I wish you a very good summer holiday! Just to let you know that the next session will be on September 25th 2010. We are hoping that the Romans will come and see us again as well as continuing with looking at the heritage and conservation of the Caer Alyn site during the autumn.

***Iron Age Man & Woman***

Last week, volunteers from Caer Alyn played the part of an iron-age family for an educational dvd for a schools information pack on the iron-age. Whilst waiting for the film crew to arrive, Phil Cox (our own "director" tcarried out his own photo shoot!

The Caer Alyn project started with just one test pit, as part of the Time Team Big Dig in 2002. Since then the Caer Alyn community heritage project has gone from strength to strength, as you will see when reading the following pages of the story so far.

Markland Hill School, Bolton to visit Caer Alyn

On the 8th October 2009, students and staff of Markland Hill School, Bolton will visit Caer Alyn to experience at first hand how an archaeological site works. They will have the opportunity during the day to use geophysical equipment and try their hand at excavation.
