The final week of the student summer dig

The final few days of the student summer dig was concerned with showing the full extent of the ditch feature found within trench 18, this was achived thanks to the hard work of the students. Also, other features were observed within the southern end of the trench, some re deposited stones and gravel that may suggest the remains of a bank? and a pit which seems to cut into the re deposited gravel.

Day One, CAAHP Summer Dig

The day started with site health and safety induction, introduction to staff and then a tour around the whole site introducting the students to all of the archaeological landscape in and around Caer Alyn. The next stage was to introduce the students to the dig area and tape out the trench to tie in with site grid and geophysical survey.
