Join the Caer Alyn team in excavating a potential prehistoric enclosure at the southern entrance to the Bryn Alyn hillfort
In 2008, Dr Meggen Gondek, University of Chester, completed a geophysical survey of the interior of the hillfort and an area just outside the southern entrance to the Bryn Hill fort, the results of which indicated that there are possible features in both areas. 1 comment 25079 visits |
Grundtvig funding awarded to Caer AlynHeritage and Cultural project to start October 2009The Caer Alyn Project has been successful in their Grundtvig application to form a partnership with five other European countries to develop a heritage project ' Let Me Be Your Guide - History in your own backyard'. The partner countries in this project are; Spain, Belgium, Malta, Austria and Lithuania. 3462 visits |

Activities Over last monthThe last month has seen activity in trench 14 and the new enclosure area, with no further work on BOB yet. The attachment gives a brief summary of the activities and the photograph of Phil and his badge, found in the enclosure is an omen! 1883 visits |
Dig Diary on BOB 11th & 18th OctoberThe dig diary for the last two weeks is attached. We are now drawing to a close on BOB and will be starting the post excavation work soon. There is a bit of planning, photographing and paperwork to do and then the trench will be closed down and back filled. 1752 visits |

The Caer Alyn project starts its sixth year with a series of new excavations and activities. These include new excavations on the site, continued development of the Iron Age settlement, planned and built by our youth archaeologists and a Summer Big Dig on the southern enclosure of the hillfort. 5169 visits |

Visit to Gresford ChurchOn Friday 2nd March 2007, members of the project team (Russell Evans, Neil Adams and Phil Cox) visited Gresford Church to investigate and photograph possible church furniture that might be connected to the Chapel of St Leonard's.
